BUSH DIARY JUNE 1991

June 1991:

Dullness, work routine, heard from Charlie he has an apartment in San Rafael with some other young men.  I can see that working out.
I purchased a Universal remote and so far cannot get it to universally work.  Sigh...

Glen Nishimoto is leaving on his world tour.  My going away give were a dozen stamped self addressed envelopes so he will drop a line every once in a while.

Wedding presents:  Purchased a mask of whale bone and baleen eyes as well as a skin and fur mask for the other couple.

I have sweet talked a friend from work to housesit and water my plants.  She and her husband might appreciate a mini vacation at my apartment.

Vacation:  June 19 took the 5 pm MarkAir flight to Anchorage. 2 am caught the connecting flight to Seattle. Carla met me at  am, God bless the child. We went to Rick's place of business and I purchased an idiot proof camera.  We went to a beer garden and drank lovely local brew. Flew to Emmett the next day and ran around with Barbara Whelen.

Mom and I left very early determined to get to Aunt Wilma's house in Greely, Colorado.  We got there about 8 pm and were given a late supper and wonderful beds. Next day went south to Castlerock to visit with Ellen and Leo. The next day we headed east on our way to the Missouri Cousins Reunion.  Stopped in Salinas, Kansas for supper and a room.  Tired.  Next day we headed to Lancaster, Missouri to meet Rose and J.B. Wheeler. I sat on their front porch swing and watched fireflies for the very first time.  Well real ones that is. I remember seeing fake ones at Disneyland.

We participated in the catered reunion and I met people whose names I will not remember but it was fun.  Next day we headed back and met brother Jim and Anita in Casper,Wyoming.  Went back through Wind River country, beautiful.  Stopped in the Tetons for pictures.  Gorgeous. Took us thirty minutes to drive through down town Jackson Hole, Lordy Lordy.

We reached Idaho Falls and decided to take the back way by way of Idaho Nuclear E Labs.  All the workers take commuter buses from Idaho Falls, there were about 40 buses.  Yikes.

While I was at home in Idaho Dad and I snuck off to Jackpot, Nevada for a spot of casino cruising. Mom won't go, she thinks Dad has a gambling problem.  Well yeah he does, he is pretty good at craps and terrible at poker and he makes just enough to keep the cycle going all night long.

After vacation I just crashed for a few days, washed clothes and enjoyed 24 hours of daylight in Barrow.

It gets very dusty in the summer, the boat captains can orient themselves while at sea they just paddle towards the dust cloud.  Also this is the time of year that moving transport dies on the tundra and remains there.  Junky. And you need to put tin foil up on the windows and put a box fan in the window for noise abatement.  Is is very light and very noisy.  Everyone drives everywhere 24/7.  G'night.

That's it for June.
