IPAD for seniors

I watched this on the news the other night. The lady is 100 years old and is vision impaired. Her relatives purchased an IPAD for her. So far she has read two books and written 12 sonnets.

Ellen, do you suppose Bertha would be able to use this one? I think the print is scalable. I would be tempted to get one if it had a phone and a camera.

I have been experimenting

...with the sour dough recipe. My complaint is that husband does not like hotcakes. He is more of a veggie omelet or chicken fried steak breakfast eater.

The recipe calls for: 1 to 1 and 1/2 cups starter plus two tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar, t1 tbsp oil and 1 egg. That amount is just fine for TWO people.

I have tried those measurements using a very scant one cup of starter and it was so salty and gassy that while cooking so many bubbles popped and would not stay open, I wound up with a very dark cooked side and flipped it over for 15 seconds and it was fairly tough, very disappointing... AND I could not taste the sourdough, argh.

Next experiment I used 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda,
1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 and 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon oil and I used the whole egg, but if you are watching your cholesterol try separating the egg and using the white only. This cooked up well and tasted very good, and using the scant one cup of starter, made three very adequate 6 to 8 inch size pancakes. Add butter, syrup, consume with cold milk and daily medications and then wash the dishes. Yummers!

Um, happy solstice...I think

I have a perfectly crappy picture of my lilac bush, which is blooming nicely, even as we speak. However, the cranky Kodak program won't load for me and it was much easier to go grab a picture off the net. It doesn't smell as pretty, however.

Happy April 21st. I think in ancient time there were spring bonfires lit in celebration or the ewes were lactating or some damn earth thing. So

Have a cup of mead on me.

At least we haven't had any volcanoes go off around here. Bye now!

Mr. Z goes to Washington....

This horrible picture is one I took at the presentation given today. This is a rendering of what the new hospital will look like. It will be situated on the current front parking lot and part of the downhill slope next to the clinic.
It will be fabulous! Mr. Z and his delegation must travel to D.C. for preparation for the four hour presentation to HUD in New York City! They will be asking to borrow between 20 and 22 million dollars and if all goes well, we will start breaking ground no later than November. There is a tremendous amount of paperwork and planning that goes into a project like this and I can hardly wait to get to the space planning for medical records.

This is the overhead view and take note there will be a road that goes all the way around the hospital. You should be a little mousie on Wednesday and watch the truck driver winkle the MRI van into a miniscule parking pad at the back of the hospital, oh my word, he is good. The new facility will have space built in for MRI, we may not get one right away but we will have a spot for it. That's it for now.

Too much Law and Order I think.....

Woke up this morning bemused.

I had been having a rather generalized traveling dream with interesting companions.

I had apparently set out to catch a bus (with 20 dollars) in Mountain Home.
Destination Memphis, Tennessee to visit a relative, Ellen maybe?

One of my traveling companions was Sandra Bullock as a brunette.

At any rate we wound up in England somewhere, London I think. We were all in a courtroom. I walked in and asked if there was a place to sign up so I would know what order I would be seen. I wound up third.

So, I sat and watched various barristers present their cases and one of them was Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. I think he would make a perfectly acceptable barrister, as he is very tall and convincing. He stopped by my table and spoke briefly, I told him I admired his work and he tossed off something silly, I don’t remember what.

Then I woke up feeling completely bemused.

General dream interpretation says travel means you may be getting tired of routine and wish to get away from it all. Yeah.....

Turkey Trap

Woke from a dream, setting desert town somewhere, tourists gassing up cars.
Payment involved going inside the gas station. If the tourist did not have
Sufficient funds to pay for the gas, the women were put in a holding device.
The device consisted of a very long plastic stick (20 feet) that holds the persons hands in place
The stick is so long to prevent the person held in it from simply getting in a car
And driving off because it is so big it cannot go inside a car.

One man who looked like (The actor Jim Carey) was demanding that his wife
Be taken out of the turkey trap. One officer was helping him get the turkey trap off and insisted that the man give him the turkey papers. Yeah, he had the turkey papers in their car. (lie)
The officer was suspicious.

Another scene was that of a teenager trying to explain that she was wrongly put in the turkey trap to her parent. Much confusion and histrionics. The BFF wanted to be put in the turkey trap with her and would have if she had ever known about such a thing. She would never let her BFF go through something like that alone.

Then I woke up a 3:45 am and decided to write this down. Jeez!

Ah Easter Sunday

I spent Easter Sunday by first screwing my courage to the sticking point and....

GETTING out of BED and went to work for four hours before hacking my way back home.

The remainder of the day was spent in viewing some non formal religious pieces; "Keys To The Kingdom". Gregory Peck looking lean, earnest, soulful as Father Francis Chisholm. He was a missionary in China and the story was very enjoyable. Father even went to war, helped destroy a warring generals gun that was shooting up his town. Since this was a Hollywood epic, and I haven't read the book, its is highly unlikely that the real Father Chisholm took such an active warrior like role, Hollywood being Hollywood and all.

I also watched Sister Wendy (Famous English Nun who lives in a small trailer and explains art) explaining stained glass windows and the Passion of Christ. She is so fascinating to watch, I keep thinking that those perfectly formed over sized front teeth just HAVE to fall off any minute now...... but she simply glows beatifically and proses on and pretty soon its time for medicine.

Okey dokey then, my first cold of the year.

Yesterday I sneezed my head off at work and didn't think much of it as we are surrounded by paper records that shed a certain amount of dust. I went home and promptly developed a chill and started sniffling on the left side. I broke out the Alka Seltzer Colds Plus medicine (Cherry flavor, not bad) and gulped it down, the slight sore throat merited a cough drop. So, must go back to bed. I'm keeping my virus at home today. Later.
