BUSH DIARY APRIL 1994:

4-1:   Strange dream.  I visited a brothel.  There were many beautiful women and men waiting in glass windows like in Holland.  I suggested to the manager perhaps they could have video games for the waiting customers such as "Leisure Suit Larry". Then I woke up fortunately.

4-4 Tim flew to Wainwright because one of the girls who usually fly to the villages with Grant was out sick.  So away he went to learn new things.  There was a buffet at the place he stayed.

Dream:  I dreamt that I saw an old friend from my former work place.  She urged me to fill out an application because if I waited until the beginning of the next year there would be an application fee.  Obviously I have no regrets leaving the old place other than missing a few friends.

Refund from Unca Sammy!  Gonna make vaca with that bad boy!!

Got the Northline done and mailed off.  So much for trying to stop doing it myself, grrr.

SHOOTOUT:  4-11 -- The day started off literally with a bang. There was a shootout in downtown Barrow.  Nephew of a friend from work holed himself up in his uncles house and proceeded to shoot the bejoodlies out of the house with an AK47 type assault rifle.
PSO came on shots fired report. He shot an officer in the neck who happened to be on the other side of the wall.  The other cops dragged him three blocks to an ambulance then then to the hospital.  They kept good suppression on the neck wound.
From there he was medevac'd to Fairbanks.  We got incredibly busy in medical records when a call went out on CB for blood.  The nurses said who ever made the CB call was unaware that the hospital would not take blood in such an emergency fashion and that even if such an emergency order was made that the blood needed to be held for 24 hours.
Fortunately we had a visiting surgeon on staff in the ER who did a very good job of getting the jugular vein closed and saved the cops life.
I had to go to personnel about 11 am and there was still shooting going on and I skipped along a bit faster.  I don't know what eventually happened but the local cops dragged the guy into ER about 5 pm.  He was reported to have a chest wound.  He surrendered just before the SWAT team landed.
One of the guys at work was translating for one of the elders who came into outpatient afterwards.  He was completely pissed because the kid shot his outboard motor twice.  Death by cop successfully averted.  Thank God.

One of the locals fall out of his boat while seal hunting this weekend.  Coroner's case so I got off from doing a death certificate.

Charlie needs 3k to get into an apartment that he and Leslie want to move into.  Okay, lemme write a check.  I know they wont' trash it and he won't lose the security deposit.

RECAP OF VACATION:  Tim and Bradford and I left Saturday morning and flew down to Seattle about 10 am.  Carla, bless her insomnia, met us at the Alaska Airlines baggage carousel.
She made reservations for the Space Needle for brunch. We had scones and our choice of fresh OJ or champers.  A large party came in and the man leading them in was loud and obnoxious and was seated far far away,  the waitress apologized and gave us a free dessert.  I had the creme brulee Yummy!! It took two hours to have breakfast.  Far too leisurely.
Picked up the rental van that afternoon and we chugged on down to Pendleton to visit with his dad, Vester Alden.  He is retired and lives in a house near the Pendleton Airport.   We cleared out Tim's room there, donated a bunch of stuff, threw out a bunch of stuff and packed eight boxes and mailed them to Barrow parcel post.  We will probably beat the packages home.
Took off Sunday morning, stopped in Ontario at Walmarts because Tim had never shopped at Walley World. We got to Emmett about 5 pm
Monday in Emmett was rested a bit, went with Mom to WKMH for biscuits, the best!! Saw a former worker who had gone a diet and lost 108 pounds.  Good job!
Later that afternoon we visited with Phil and Jody and met their cat, Toes. He has polydactyly and looks like he is wearing boxing gloves, he is lovely big thing and quite friendly.
Tuesday we and Mom and Dad drove to Jackpot for a spot of gambling.  About 7 the next morning Mom came stomping madder than Hell, Dad was still in the Casino gambling, she was pissed and wanted to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.  Jesus, let me get my eyes open.  Gah.
Friday was "Girls" day, Mom and I ran away to Boise to get a family friend to do my hair in a Dorothy Hamil cut.  Picked up a former coworker from her work place and we went to the outlet mall.  Went home and chilled.
Saturday Dad went to an auction.  We took the old oak school bench to give to Carla.  We didn't have room to take the old Sears type oak table.
Sunday we went to Jon Elsberry's house for a tour.  He build a very large multistory spread above the canals and is opening a few rooms for a B&B.  His mom Evelyn is doing clean up.  The house is fun.  It has a racquet ball court with a hidden door from the library to get into it.  There is a walk to a lovely gazebo that over looks the valley.
Monday we returned and stopped briefly in Pendleton for a quick visit with Tim's Dad then onto Seattle. We spent a couple of days goofing around.  Shopped for a Sony turn table and got some used CD's at Music Menu.  Cool place. Turned in the Van and took the flight to Anchorage.  Flight home was uneventful except for the takeoff from Prudhoe Bay, very bouncy.  A loose coffee pot went bouncy bouncy down the aisle.  No one dressed in a Parka was harmed.

Mail:  All of our boxes were there, hooray!
It is good to be home from travels.  I think a shorter holiday next time or not try to cram quite so much into too few days.  Oy!

My feet are killin' me. G'night folks.
