RESULTS

This is cajeta or Dulce De Leche. I put those four 8 ounce cans of sweetened condensed milk covered with water in my slow cooker for exactly eight hours. I then turned the slow cooker off and left the cans to cool slowly over the next 5 1/2 hours. I then cooled them in the fridge until morning. I opened one today to check the caramelization, thick, rich, creamy, perfect!!

I love it when something works!!

that is so deliciously wrong. I think I love caramel/dulce de leche way more than chocolate.

Who on God's wide earth came up with such a thing?
Seriuously - who invented this? I use condensed milk for my coffee, I use it for cooking, it never occurred to me to boil a can for eight hours.
So you have caramel on top - or is everything in the can caramelized?
I stand in awe. The adventure is next door.

One thing, after eight hours in water, the cans left slight rust marks in the bottom of my ceramic slow cooker, I recommend either putting down a towel or wrapping the cans in plastic wrap. R
