Kindle and local wildlife

This is my Kindle. It came in the mail yesterday from Amazon.com. It is an electronic book reader. I have experimented with e-books downloading to my PC and then reading them while in bed...NOT such a good idea. Still had to use the mouse or the touchpad and it was very touchy. Hard to get cozy in bed y'know.

There are electronic book readers out there but a bit limited in what they can do,you still need a computer to download the book.

Amazon announced the Kindle earlier this year, I read some reviews, reviewed the product and though spendy I was intrigued enough to get on the sold out waiting list. Mine came with my account already loaded and I followed the directions, plug in, power up, turnon wireless and order a book for 3 dollars I ordered a book and it was delivered to my Kindle within minutes. It reads as well as a paper book, no reflection of your ugly mug distracting from the "printed" page. Over all I am very satisfied, I feel a little strange being the first one on the block to own this product but I did wait several weeks for the furor to die down. The only draw back I can see is that I highly recommend keeping the wireless turned OFF while reading, and the long "next page" bar is too easily hit and you might miss a page but there is a "back" button just in case. I'm liking it so far.

A picture of one our big old fat squirrels. The maintenance guys put up feeders so they wouldn't chew up the pine trees. Uh huh, I think they just like to feed the squirrels. One of these days I will get a picture of the deer bedding down between the trees on hill side between the hospital and the clinic.

I wish I would ahve thought of a Kindle for our very LONG plane trip to Argentina. 4.5 hours to Atlanta, 5 hour layover, 10 hours to Buenos Aries....yikes! Can't wait for a review further down the path.

Saw another Sci-Fi book by SM Stirling whilst at the book store yesterday...looked weird.

Kewl!!!!I can hardly wait to see one in action. I would probably need to get several as it is my habit to read several books at any given time. I am weird I know.
FYI!!! I am a grandma. Jen got a dog, his name is Frank and is soon to be arrving here. Hooray!

Carla why don't you and Mitch purchse one of those traveler Scrabble boards? That work very nicely oh and some of those chocolate liquor bottles? Very nice. The billing manager gave me one yesterday she had given them to her crew as a gifty for good work, not enougn Cointreau (Sp?) maybe an 18 of a tsp but tasty none the less. Royce

Just to let you know, since you asked, Mel took her blog down because it was being spammed by some porn asswipes. The electronic book sounds pretty cool, can you got one that just reads to you? We miss the squirrels we had in Portland, they were fun. Not very loyal though.

We saw the travel scrabble board at the bookstore and it is a consideration.

You can download audio books on the Kindle and you can open as many books and read them as you want. You just open 'em and start reading. I haven't figured out how to load my ebooks on my PC to the Kindle I think I have to email them to Amazon who then converts them to a file that Kindle recognizes and they send it to my Kindle without charge. Now where did those damn directions go? Royce
