I am writing to plead for the case of a Netflix production of 15 books that exceed the scope of Game of Thrones.
I have read the first three books written by M. Stirling. He is a prolific writer of alternate reality novels. The arc of which I speak is know as the Emberverse.
The first book is called "Dies The Fire". The main characters are Mike Havel, ex marine pilot, Junie McKenzie, Wiccan and Norman Arminger, evil, wicked, bad and nasty.
All of this takes place in the Idaho wilderness, Corvallis and Portland.
Action scenes involve archery, mounted horse combat, lots of sword work and gorgeous scenery.
The plot begins in March 1998. An event occurs that propagates through the whole of the earth. Something happens that does not allow the gas laws to work. Guns do not work. Planes do not fly. Etc. Millions of people die off and starve. The story is one of survival.
Please read the first chapter of the book. I am very certain that Mr. Stirling would love to see his books produced. These books have a very strong fan following and very active Face book presence.
One advantage would be very little use for CGI. I personally would like to see Kit Harrington play the part of Mike Havel. There are parts for a young Danny Glover as well juicy parts. I personally would enjoy Kit Harrington playing Mike Havel.
Please assign an eager assistant to read this first book, even better ask your staff if they have read and sit back for some gushing etc.
